Communication & Making Inferences, Predictions and Assumption

In that meeting we had discussed about making Inferences, Predictions and Assumption. Inference is the act or process of deriving logical conclusions from premises known or assumed to be true. And there are two type of inference:

  • Supported Inferences
  • Unsupported Inferences
Prediction is figuring out what will happen next. It is made by using previous knowledge based on experience, together with the clues from the story. And last, Assumptions is an accepted cause and effect relationship, or estimates of the existence of a fact from the known existence of other facts.

In that case we already know what were the differences of them with each other. We also know what are there uses in Communicating.

Communication Types and Methods

Communication is defined as the sharing or exchanging of information from one person to another by the means of speaking, writing, or using signals. It is divided into three main parts:

  • Body language (55%)
  • Style (38%)
  • Words (7%)
There are different types and methods in communicating. These are Conversation/Verbal, Gesture/Non-verbal, Written, Visual and Multimedia.

In Verbal communication/Conversation is the most common on how to communicate with others. Uttering words and phrases and sentences is also considered a verbal communication. In Gesture/Non-verbal is the flow of the conversation is non speaking, no words uttered, no noise type of communication. In written it used for when you have to provide detailed information such as figures and facts. In visual it is for photographs, films, etc.. In Multimedia, combination of text, audio, still image, animation, video, or interactivity content forms.

For me, communication is very important to communicate with others. It also helps on how you to be close to the person who you were talking to. It also give the emotion of the person who you were talking to.

Facts Vs Opinion

In this lesson I learned that difference between facts and opinion. First, facts are statements that can be proven by evidence, records, and data, while opinions are statements that is base on someone feelings and preferences. I also knew that there are 5 types of opinion. First, is hypothesis statements it explains an observation. Second, is theory, is an opinion from believe explanation. Third, is assumptions is an opinion that is based from predictions. Fourth, value statesments it is an opinion from someones belief. And last exaggerated is an opinion that emphasizes the statement to sway the readers. Example when you are not sure about it you can give an opinion about it. On the other hand when you know about it is fact.

OPEN AND CLOSE CONVERSATION

Last time, we tackled about "Open and Close conversation", a conversation use for communication and information in exchange to the person talking to. An Open Conversation requires you to answer in a long sentence to make it more interesting. On the other hand in Close Conversation you can answer it in simply "yes" or "no". To keep a conversation on going use the Seven ways. First, give a little more information than is asked for, second make a related comment, third repeat key words, react in some creative way ,fifth add comments, sixth ask a related questions and, last use question tags.

So after we finished discussing about this lesson we had group work consist of two members. My partner in that pairing is Mr. Manabe. We talked and used the Open and Close Conversation. Using the 7 ways to keep the conversation going. We present our talking in front of the class. It served as a Quiz.

For me our lesson really helps me to know how to keep a conversation long and more interesting. In my previous years in highschool, I used to keep the conversation short beacause it's hard for me to speak in english in fluent. I used to say "Oh really" "Okay" "Yes" "No". But now I know. I am now speaking in english often even if it is not english time, for me to be more fluent. Even in text and chat.

Sorry sir. I know this is late already. But please sir accept this. Thanks!
